Therapeutic Treatments In Massage Chair Recliners

Therapeutic Treatments In Massage Chair Recliners

Manufacturers of massage chairs continue to add more therapeutic features into their recliners. As technology continues to advance, this gives new ways for designers to integrate them into these advanced chairs. Massaging recliners are perfect for home or office use. Get on demand massage treatments whenever you need them with a massage chair.

Mechanical traction is one method of stretching the spine to help increase mobility. It is defined as the application of a mechanical force to the body which separates the joint surfaces and stretches the surrounding soft tissue areas. A variety of different means are used to accomplish this mechanical traction.

Spinal traction is important. It helps to loosen up the surrounding tissues of the spine. These soft tissue areas can become stiff and fatigued which causes them to lose flexibility. Massage chairs are able to perform some forms of spinal traction in order to help increase the flexibility of the spine.

Massage chairs use what is called a three point bending method for traction. This is referred to as supine segmentation traction. This method causes tensile stressors in the anterior spinal region just above the massage chair roller mechanism. The person lies in the chair which is reclined backwards. The roller will pass up and down the spine. It uses the subject's body weight through the force of gravity to cause the traction. The rollers will push up and in between the joint surfaces while the body weight pushes down causing the joint areas to flex. This method helps to flex the stiff and fatigued tissues between the spinal discs.

For those who have edema, many massage chairs now come with a zero gravity position. This position helps by raising the legs above the heart. This leg elevation helps blood to better flow through the legs and back to the heart. This helps to reduce swelling and improve blood circulation.

To loosen up the larger muscles of the back, a kneading massage is typically used. Kneading is like a pinching motion like kneading dough in a bakery. A mechanical roller system performs a side to side motion which helps to loosen up the muscles very effectively.

Many agree that the kneading style of massage is very good for stretching out stiff muscles of the back. Kneading helps to stretch muscles in ways not commonly found in stretching. This helps to increase flexibility while reducing stiffness and fatigue.

A rapid tapping motion is another very beneficial massage motion. Rapid tapping is the delivering of very quick blows to a given area. This chopping action provides for greater invigoration and stimulation of a given area.

A misaligned spine can cause other muscles in the spine to become more fatigue. The load of the body shifts to other muscles which normally do not have to take so much weight. This can cause those areas to become more fatigued. One way to relieve this is with the rapid tapping or chopping motion.

Many massage chair manufacturers have included heating elements throughout the recliner. Heat is commonly employed to improve flexibility, reduce swelling and improve circulation where applied. Heat also aids in softening up the muscles before and during a massage treatment.

Massage chairs continue to evolve with more and more therapeutic features.  A massage chair is a great asset in your total health program. They give you the ability to get a number of different therapeutic treatments on demand. Many people are adding massage chairs into their total wellness program.
